Safe horse handling

Manne_och_hängmatta.jpg

Safe horse handling is very much about the horse feeling safe in unfamiliar situations and trusting you as a leader.

This is easiest to start with from the ground up. A good basic job from the slopes solves many problems. Get to know yourself and your horse, gain a trust and a communication that you can have with you up on the back and behind the horse.

And

I train both individual crews and groups on site at your place or at my home. There is also the opportunity to train yourself on my used horses.

And

Handling for me is also very much about teaching the horse a task. All horses feel good about feeling needed. Finding a good interaction with your horse by solving a task is a fun and natural way to work with handling while you, for example, learn to harrow the riding arena or move cows.

This way of improving communication between you and your horse is suitable for all horses, regardless of whether you do jumping or distance riding on a daily basis. You get a more cooperative horse and you have fun together.

Riding

Do you feel resistance when reversing with your horse? Do you have problems stepping aside? Do you want a soft and pleasant experience when you get on your horse?

Then I can help you !!

I help you get started, improve your interaction or overcome fears. We ride individually or in small groups. Preferably family or friends. It may also be possible to borrow a horse, if necessary.

Ride easily and naturally!

I show you a simple and natural way to have communication with the horse when you ride.
The knowledge is based on western, academic riding (Craig Stevens) and ranch work.

All of you are a channel and the horse is just an extension of you!

We start from the seat and how to control the horse from there. We help others, such as hand and leg, we use as a reinforcement when needed. You can control the horse with one help, the others are supportive when needed. Why do more than you need ??

Driving

Using the horse for various jobs on the farm is an old, solid knowledge that is unfortunately dying out. I had a fantastic partner and partner to train with, so I learned the basics of working with a horse in the woods and on the ground. I am happy to share this knowledge with you.

I help you with a good basic work to get the horse safe and responsive. We empty run, use ropes and scissors, shackles and timber sleds and finally maybe even a cart.

Lessons at your home or here at my farm. There is also the opportunity to train on my horses, which are in different stages of training. Contact me for questions and booking.

Livestock work

All horse breeds can do this. The horse needs to be rideable and able to walk backwards, forwards and to the sides. We can also come and help you on the farm. Contact Us!

Livestock work with horses is an old tradition that has been used for hundreds of years. In Sweden, it is not so common for the common man, but most people think that but must have special horses and compete in this. It is not needed at all!

There are lots of farms around that have cows and horses. It is often the children or the wife who have horses, but they are not used at work. Imagine that the horses could actually be involved and do some good and contribute to their livelihood!

Everyone can work cows with their horse!

It is not only in the western, but even if you compete and train jumping or dressage, you can benefit from this. It will be a fun and clear way for the horse to train reaction and agility, both sideways, forwards and backwards.

Dare to try a different way of exercising, while at the same time combining benefit with pleasure!

Home delivery of cows from the pasture

Horses do not scare cows. Strangers often pose a greater threat to cows than a horse does. With that, it is also easy for horses to move a cow with a calf. Here is a difference from using a dog, as the cows usually feel that they have to protect their calf against the dog. That is not the case with horses. This is because both the horses and the cows are prey! Humans and dogs are predators and then pose a greater threat.

You work the cows the same as if you were walking on the hill, positions and pressure work basically the same. The difference is that you are now much faster and more enduring! It can be a good complement to use a herding dog, especially if you are not that many or if it is hilly terrain.

To move the cows quickly, move them slowly…

Sort cows

Sort cows before slaughter, marking, hoof care, pregnancy check or when needed!

With a horse, you sit higher and get a better overview while reducing the risk of being kicked. The horse has a calming effect on the cows and it usually stresses the cows less with a horse than on foot or with a dog.
